God does not haggle; He gives with infinite abundance. Christ does not give us a little something; He consumes Himself utterly. The love God wants from us is not according to the law of the least indispensable but according to the principle of “the all.” The brotherhood we must have among ourselves is not measured by justice but by the immolation that Christ chose in order to manifest His love for us.
