O CHRIST, AWAITED ONE
You, O Christ, are
Like a flake of snow fluttering from Heaven
Like a radiant star bursting to life without ever dimming
Like a lily blooming in our desert.
Trembling
The chaste Virgin welcomed You;
With kisses and caresses of love
She cradled You;
Bearing alone in her heart the waiting
For You,
Christ the Lord.
Now she admires You, her eyes filled with amazement.
Profound joy sustains her happiness.
She gazes, contemplates, smiles, and responds to You,
O Christ.
Mother,
Give us your newborn Son;
Even though we are lowly shepherds with
poor gifts
And tired pilgrims from the East,
We long for Christ.
His innocence draws us,
His radiance enchants us,
His fragrance attracts us irresistibly.
O Mother, give us your Son.
