In order for God to come within us, He must find us empty. It is the mystery of love that wants to fill us. And we should, in reality, lose ourselves when faced with this reflection. It is the mystery of love that wants to give itself completely to us. God is not a powerful being that wants to crush us; He is the powerful God who wants to give of Himself to us, who wants to reach us, who wants to communicate the totality of His being to us. Therefore nothingness, emptiness, and choosing poverty are conditions that allow God to give Himself to us. (The Rock)
