We are, indeed, children of God; we call ourselves children of God because we are really His children. Why are we His children? Because God has loved us infinitely. The emptying of the Eternal Word of God does not have as a goal emptying for the sake of emptying, but His emptying has our enrichment as a goal: He became like us to make us like He is. (The Rock)
