The lives of the saints show this to us. It would be absurd to think the duty of sanctity can be left to personal and individual good will, without trying to check to see if, in fact, it can really be lived in the social context in which we are immersed.
When we encounter things that make us joyful, we naturally want to share our joy with others. A novel, a delicious dessert, a life-giving conversation with a friend... all of these things have the capacity to do that for us. Our encounter with the infinite love of God is no different. We should want to share that love with others. May we never become caved in on ourselves, but constantly seek to transform the world around us through God's grace and with joyful hearts.
