Novena Day Nine

  • Day NINE

The three Archangels are symbols of God’s care and providence and His intimate concern for His people. Their representations show them to be figures of power and beauty, aiding in the battle against evil and protecting those who call on them. We are surrounded by wonders, and Angels are among the most wondrous. “We believe in one God, maker of all that is seen and unseen,” we profess in the Nicene Creed. The Angels bring God close to us and help us to realize that we are not alone in the universe (Fr. Clifford Stevens).

In a world of fear and desolation, may the Angels bring us to the faces of hope, Jesus Christ and his Mother!

Novena Day Eight

·        Day EIGHT

Each day we go into a battle. Struggling...

Striving...to do good...Knowing in one moment we can slip up and sin. Our spirit must stay strong to fight the battle of our weakness and our humanness.

I see the Angels surrounding us. Swords in hand. Helping us fight those battles... "Fighting the good fight." So we remain ever faithful to Our Father in heaven as St Michael saves our souls.

Special prayers go out to those who are in the midst of the battle and have asked for prayers…you know who you are!

Novena Day 7

  • Day SEVEN

Saint Michael! Most Powerful of all protectors! Dazzling Light! Quick to Answer! Place your wings of protection around all those I love - all priests and all those beginning consecrated life. Guide my conscience this day at every moment to discern what I am to do and personally ask Jesus to give me immediate light and grace to do it without hesitation. Guard my tongue and my will. Adore Jesus for me when I receive the Eucharist. Thank you in the name of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

Novena Day Six

·        Day SIX

‘We have to make our choices”, said the Founder,  “to either choose the wide road of little faith, or become authentic witnesses, in the likeness of the martyrs of old who died for their faith. I am speaking of likeness, since to live by faith is equivalent to a real crucifixion” (G. Giaquinta, Our Faith, 1971). Such crucifixion comes not only from external causes, but also from the internal battle against personal, interior negative inclinations. – For this reason we need the divine assistance of the Angels and Saints. We cannot do it alone!

I pray for our conversion of heart and ask the intercession of our Founder, the Angels and Saints!

Novena Day Three and Day Four

·        Day THREE

Glorious Saint Michael, you are our guardian and defender. You are the protector of the Church. Come and assist us as we learn to follow Jesus more closely. Guide us to grow in holiness. Protect us from all evil, especially distractions and addictions that keep us from the Lord. Guard with special care our Holy Father, the Pope, our bishops, priests, all our consecrated and lay people, and especially the children.

·        Day FOUR

Today, more than ever, the world needs to see in us men and women who believe in an ideal; men and women who believe in the Word of the Lord and let it transform our lives to the point of total dedication; men and women who witness the Love that we wish to offer to all. With the help of grace, let us strive to make our commitment to Christ and to the Church ever stronger and our witness ever more credible (Giuliana Spigone).

Novena Day Two

·        Day TWO

We are living through times that are difficult and, therefore, confronted by heroic demands. We are living in a world that requires the “heroism of every virtue.” Let us, too, become solid in our faith, and find the courage to make heroic choices. Thus, we will be able to grow in “unity” and to fulfill the ideal to which we have dedicated our lives (Giuliana Spigone).

My intention today is that the St. Michael intercede for us that we might be  strengthened in our faith and receive the courage we need to stand with those who suffer – the same manner with which Mary stood by Jesus on the cross.

2009 Novena to the Angels

My Mother, My Confidence!

Novena to St. Michael the Archangel, St. Gabriel and St. Raphael

Patrons of the Pro Sanctity Movement

Feast Day: September 29, 2009

Nine days of daily prayer and reflection:

September 20 – 29, 2009 (or start at any time)

Dear Pro Sanctity Family Members and Friends,

We are all going through difficult times these days, with our families, financially, morally, spiritually… Yet we must remember that our strength comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Jesus, our Savior, rose from the dead and therefore death has no power over us! The pain and the confusion have been and continues to be enormous, but we are at this very moment being strengthened by our experiences and reassured by a hope that never leaves us disappointed. It is in this mixed sprit of sorrow and hope that we begin our annual novena to the Archangel Michael in particular, whom we honor as one of our patrons and defender of our holiness, and we include the great Archangels Gabriel and Raphael. We need all the heavenly helpers available!

Dear Friends, let us begin anew, trusting in the loving protection of our Protector St. Michael the Archangel, “closest to God, who comes to our aid,” as we pray in the Liturgy, and in all the Angels. St. Thomas Aquinas tells us that the Angels can “do so much for us and are so very close to us. We are not nearly so alone as we imagine, whatever the hour or place.”

In this novena we welcome your intentions on our BLOG, so that we may pray for one another and ask our committed praying members to pray for your intentions. Sincerely In Christ,

Teresa Monaghen and Pro Sanctity Local Board of Archdiocese of Omaha

Two possible daily prayers to Saint Michael for your 9 day novena…

Prayer One

Saint Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray.

O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into Hell Satan and the other evil spirits who prowl the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

Prayer Two

O God, you call Angels, men and women to cooperate in your plan of salvation. Grant us, pilgrims on earth, the protection of St. Michael the Archangel and of all the Angels who are in your presence to serve you and contemplate the glory of your face. Amen.

· Day ONE

Dear Saint Michael, your name means, "Who is like God?" and it indicates that you remained faithful when others rebelled against God. Help us, especially the following intentions____________________________________________
